Co-Creating Playful City: Playright’s Commitment to Interdisciplinary Innovation

1-11-2025
We’re proud to have co-organized the “Building a Free-Play-Friendly City: An Interdisciplinary Collaboration in Place-Making” international conference alongside Hong Kong Shue Yan University and SPEED of PolyU from 22–24 October 2025!
With over 150 passionate participants joining both online and in-person, the event showcased how interdisciplinary collaboration can shape inclusive, sustainable, and free-play friendly environments. Throughout the pre-conference workshops, keynote speeches, symposium as well as the networking sessions, all established a vibrant exchange of ideas among architects, designers, educators, social workers, and play advocates — all united by a shared vision: to make cities more play-friendly for children.
We had the pleasure of learning, exploring with #ElgerBlitz, #MitsunariTerada, #SimonBattisti, #ChristineYuihwaLee, #KevinSiu, #ProfRajashreeSrinivasan, #KevinKienHoaChung, #TsangWaiHungWallace, #CarolineGhatt, #AliceFerguson, #MsTamSiuFan, #JulietShih, on how design, policy, research, practice and participatory approaches can make changes and impacts on children’s play and promoting community well-being.
With vibrant networking and cross-sector dialogue led by our moderators #AlanCheung, #DrVictorKoong, #ChangHoiWoodHoward, #ChanYuiHoiThomas, #PatrickChanKaiChing #EricHo, the conference sparked new ideas for building cities where where play is not a privilege, but a right for every child.
This conference reaffirmed our belief: play is a powerful tool for building inclusive, creative, and resilient communities. Thank you to all speakers, partners, moderators and attendees who joined us in this meaningful journey.
Let’s continue to build a city where every child has the freedom to play!

Thanks to all as we have united by a shared vision: to make cities more play-friendly for children.
