How to make it work?

24-9-2025

Aiming at “Building a Free-Play-Friendly City” is the theme of the multidisciplinary conference organized by Hong Kong Shue Yan University and 香港理工大學專業進修學院 PolyU SPEED, College of Professional and Continuing Education 專業及持續教育學院 , and co-organized by Playright.

However, what is the approach to make it work? What are the good practices? Don’t miss the symposium 3 “Best practice of place-making of free-play-friendly environment in a community” where professional practitioners would share their valuable experiences and practical tips that can’t be missed.
👍🏻Ms Alice Ferguson – Alice has been a leading campaigner for children’s freedom to play outside since 2009. What began as a grassroots act has grown into a national movement, with over 1,600 street communities reclaiming their roads for play and connection and more than 100 local authorities across the UK supporting play streets.

👍🏻Ms Tam Siu Fan – Ms Tam leads her kindergarten to adopt Playright’s “Free Play Practice” —empowering children to explore, imagine, and lead their own learning journeys. Under her leadership, the kindergarten has become a model for inclusive, play-rich education in Hong Kong—where emotional, social, and intellectual growth are nurtured through joyful exploration.

👍🏻Ms Juliet Shih and her students Mr Vincent Ng and Mr Aiden Szeto – Juliet is a passionate advocate for creative education rooted in self-initiated free play. Her award-winning project “Children’s Wonderland”, guides children from “players” to “learners,” and ultimately to “educators”—empowering them to express creativity, solve problems, and collaborate meaningfully.
